In Person Teacher
Lead Teachers are responsible for managing one, multi-grade, classroom, including a Support Teacher to monitor all scholars in the classroom. Being a Shining Star educator means you are committed to facilitating learning in a safe and supportive faith based environment. Candidates to be considered will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and have a growth mindset in regards to teaching in an online environment.
Responsibilities
- Yearly plans, weekly lesson plans, and daily lesson plans.
- Responsible for Support Teacher’s educational small group activities.
- Maintaining a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and creative school culture in his/her classroom.
- Serving as the point person for dealing with behavioral crisis-intervention in his/her classroom.
- Acting as a resource for the Support Teacher in his/her instructional practice, especially as it relates to issues of classroom management and school culture.
- Working aggressively with scholars and parents to ensure excellent attendance.
- Arranging for efficient homework monitoring, ensuring homework is tracked appropriately and accurately.
- Ensuring that the physical environment in his/her classroom reinforces school culture and facilitates scholar achievement.
- Proactively circulating throughout his/her classroom during the day, to gain valuable context on scholar behavior and help support positive school culture.
- Modeling the school’s values and the standard for professional behavior.
- Supervising class transitions, before school, during the day, and dismissal, making sure scholars are always where they are supposed to be and ensuring a professional school culture at all times.
- Ensuring that behavioral expectations and school cultural standards are met outside of the classroom as well as inside, including establishing and monitoring field-trip behavior expectations.
- Following all policies for school culture and academics.
- Assisting with community outreach efforts to recruit students.
Qualifications
- Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of his/her classroom.
- Flexibility and willingness to actively participate in the school community including: tutoring scholars and working with parents and families.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as intra- and inter- personal skills.
- Understanding of the nuances of urban school environments and school culture.
- Four Year College Degree/Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban district or charter school setting.
- Belief in and alignment with Shining Star’s Christian beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
Support Teacher
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher in managing, multi-grade level classroom(s).
- Implement Lead Teacher’s daily schedule and plan for educational small group scholar activities.
- Maintain a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and creative school culture in his/her classroom.
- Support the Lead Teacher in his/her classroom to hold all scholars to high and consistent behavioral expectations.
- Accurately and efficiently track student data and other information as needed.
- Proactively circulating throughout his/her classroom during the day, to gain valuable context on student behavior and help support positive school culture.
- Supervise class transitions, before school, during the day, and dismissal, making sure scholars are always where they are supposed to be and ensuring a professional school cultural at all times.
- Model the school’s values and the standard for professional behavior.
- Follow all school policies for school culture.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of his/her classroom.
- Flexibility and willingness to actively participate in school community including: tutoring students and working with parents and families.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills with scholars, parents, and colleagues.
- Understanding of the nuances of urban school environments and school culture.
- Experience with Elementary age scholars, preferably in a school setting.
- Belief in and alignment with Shining Star’s Christian beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
