Learning Facilitator
The Microschool Learning Facilitator (LF) is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, support, and oversight of scholars in a blended learning environment. Serving as the primary adult in the classroom, the LF maintains a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented culture while ensuring students remain engaged, on task, and progressing academically.
The LF provides instructional support through small-group instruction, intervention, enrichment activities, and occasional direct teaching while partnering closely with virtual teachers who deliver core academic instruction. The LF also serves as the primary liaison between students and remote teachers, monitors academic and social-emotional progress, supports student organization and accountability, and helps scholars successfully navigate both their online and in-person learning experiences.
Support Teacher
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher in managing, multi-grade level classroom(s).
- Implement Lead Teacher’s daily schedule and plan for educational small group scholar activities.
- Maintain a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and creative school culture in his/her classroom.
- Support the Lead Teacher in his/her classroom to hold all scholars to high and consistent behavioral expectations.
- Accurately and efficiently track student data and other information as needed.
- Proactively circulating throughout his/her classroom during the day, to gain valuable context on student behavior and help support positive school culture.
- Supervise class transitions, before school, during the day, and dismissal, making sure scholars are always where they are supposed to be and ensuring a professional school cultural at all times.
- Model the school’s values and the standard for professional behavior.
- Follow all school policies for school culture.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of his/her classroom.
- Flexibility and willingness to actively participate in school community including: tutoring students and working with parents and families.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills with scholars, parents, and colleagues.
- Understanding of the nuances of urban school environments and school culture.
- Experience with Elementary age scholars, preferably in a school setting.
- Belief in and alignment with Shining Star’s Christian beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
